HELPFUL STORAGE TIPS

• Lay a dust sheet on the floor of your unit to protect your belongings
• Use good quality storage boxes – we sell cardboard boxes in three sizes
• Fill boxes to capacity- partially full or bulging boxes may tip or collapse
• Heavy items should be packed into small boxes so they are easy to lift (books for example)
• Make up an inventory of stored items and keep safe (and give a copy to WSS for safekeeping)
• Protect your fragile items in bubble wrap – we sell three different lengths of wrap
• Dishes and glasses should be wrapped in bubble wrap or paper – Don’t use newspaper as the ink can stain
• Garden equipment should be cleaned and emptied of petrol before storing
• Use wardrobe boxes to allow clothes to be stored on hangers to maintain shape – we sell wardrobe boxes
• Place heavy or bulky items in the unit first to provide a solid base for stacking smaller items
• Do not place heavy items on sofas or mattresses
• ALWAYS place a protective cover over your soft furnishings – we sell sofa & mattress covers
• Stack chairs seat to seat with cloth or paper to separate them
• ALWAYS fully defrost and clean fridge/freezers before storing
• Leave fridge & freezer doors ajar for ventilation
• Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in bubble wrap and placed on their end
• Cover your goods with a dust sheet or furniture blankets to protect against dust – we sell blankets
• Keep frequently used or needed items near to the unit door, we suggest important documents be stored in lidded plastic boxes for safekeeping and easy access
